The short answer
In Newtown, Yardley and the Makefields, American Stone LS restores flagstone and bluestone patios and walkways, repoints stone houses, foundations and chimneys with matched mortar, repairs stone walls, and seals patios, walks and walls with breathable penetrating sealers. Luciano and Alex Sansalone give free on-site estimates.
Newtown was one of William Penn's planned townships, and its historic center still has stone and brick buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Yardley grew up along the Delaware River and the canal. Between them, and out through the Makefields and Wrightstown, are farmhouses, newer homes with big flagstone patios, and a lot of stone walls and walks.
What we see in Newtown and Yardley
- Flagstone and bluestone patios with open joints, rocking stones and puddles, often around pools.
- Front walks and steps lifted by frost and tree roots.
- Damp stone foundations on lower ground near the river and creeks.
- Historic homes in and around Newtown borough that need careful lime repointing.
- Garden and retaining walls with failed caps.
What we do here
A lot of our lower Bucks work is patio, walkway and step restoration followed by sealing, plus repointing of houses, chimneys and foundations, and stone wall repair. Near the river we are especially careful about water: where it comes from, where it goes, and making sure walls can dry out.
Why restore instead of replace
A tired patio or walk is almost never finished. Repointing, resetting and sealing it costs a fraction of tearing it out, and you keep the stone you chose in the first place. See restore or rebuild?
