The short answer
In Upper Bucks County, American Stone LS repoints stone farmhouses, bank barns and springhouses with lime-rich mortar, removes stucco, rebuilds failed wall sections and corners with the original stone, restores flagstone patios and walks, and seals stone where it helps. Luciano and Alex Sansalone give free on-site estimates.
Head north from Doylestown through Plumstead and into Bedminster, Tinicum and Nockamixon, and the stone gets older and the properties get bigger. This is the part of the county where you still find the whole farmstead: stone house, bank barn, springhouse, smokehouse and field walls, sometimes all on one property. Up near the river, the boulder field at Ringing Rocks Park is a reminder of how much stone this ground holds.
What we see in Upper Bucks
- Farmhouses due for lime repointing, sometimes after decades of patching with cement.
- Bank barns with open joints, failing corners and water running against the banked wall.
- Springhouses and outbuildings with roof leaks that let water into the walls.
- Field and retaining walls pushed out by frost and water.
- Stuccoed houses where owners want the stone back.
What we do here
Upper Bucks work is mostly historic restoration: lime repointing, careful stucco removal, rebuilding failed corners and wall sections with the original stone, and fixing drainage. We also restore patios and walks and seal them. We would always rather repair than rebuild. On old buildings like these it costs far less and keeps what makes them special.
