The short answer
In Montgomery County and on the Main Line, American Stone LS repoints stone houses, carriage houses and chimneys with mortar matched to the original, restores flagstone and bluestone terraces, walkways and steps, repairs garden and retaining walls, and seals stone with breathable penetrating sealers. Free on-site estimates from fourth-generation stonemasons.
Luciano's work has reached the Main Line for decades, and we still get calls from families there and across Montgomery County. The stone is different from Bucks County fieldstone. Many older homes in the region use local schist and other mica-flecked stone, often in elaborate patterns, with carriage houses, garden walls and terraces to match. The principles are the same: the right mortar, a careful hand, and keep the water out.
What we see in Montgomery County
- Older stone homes with hard cement repointing from past repairs that is damaging softer stone.
- Terraces and walks in bluestone and flagstone that have heaved and opened up.
- Garden and boundary walls with failed caps and loose stones.
- Chimneys and parapets, the most exposed stone on the house.
What we do here
Repointing with matched mortar, historic stone restoration, terrace, walkway and step restoration, wall repair and sealing. Like everywhere we work, Luciano and Alex inspect the job themselves and do the work with their own crew.
